Hornbill and figs

I did this avante garde modern watercolor as an assignment in the only art class I've only benifiited from (my school distict sucks that way). My teacher was absolutly the best teacher I have ever had, and she inspired me far beyond anyone I've ever met.
This was done by finding a cool photo from National Geographic, sutting it into 1/2 inch squares each labeled A1, B1, etc. to correspond to the brid you drew in 1 inch incriments on the watercolor paper. Then by randomly selecting squares of photo, you paint that individual square by itself, and keep going until your finished. I love the overall effect it gives, being all disonected and yet the same picture...a keeper, in my mind.
I loved the photograph so much I almost did a different one for this so that I didn't have to cut up the photo. I have the complete National Geographic archive CD set, though, so it wasn't that big of a problem to desecrate one of these magazines with a pair of scissors, a sin I try desperatly to avoid.
